The New York Times recently featured an article written by UC Berkeley Sociologist and national bestselling author Arlie Hochschild, in which she writes how graduates of Interapt’s first IT apprenticeship program in Eastern Kentucky demonstrate how bipartisan efforts to retrain working Americans for next generation jobs can turn their lives around and bring hope to communities that are struggling to offer new employment pathways in today’s economy.
Interapt was selected by Urban Institute to help set national standards for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Registered Apprenticeships in Information Technology. Registered IT Apprenticeships across the nation that offer apprenticeship tracks for Software Developers and Cloud & Database Administrators will use these standards to credit apprentices for their training and work towards their certifications.
Interapt and Accenture have partnered to open a new Tech Academy at Atlanta’s City of Refuge, with sponsored support from Chick-Fil-A, EY, Elavon, and Cox Enterprises. This program aims to help Atlanta’s Westside residents learn new technology and business skills that will qualify them for open technology jobs.
After partnering with JCTC to buy and renovate over 11,000 sq. ft. of Interapt’s headquarters in the Portland neighborhood of Louisville, Mercedes-Benz USA officially opened their newest apprenticeship for training new mechanics.
Interapt’s newest IT program training software developers has opened in Glasgow, KY. While previous cohorts included either high school students or adults in the workforce, Barren County’s program will train both groups.
