Part of STEMCOMM is our Spotter Drone solution, which the military, first responders and TV news organizations are finding applicable to their needs. We have been demonstrating our complete STEMCOMM suite at the Purdue University Technology Center in New Albany, IN, just north of Louisville, KY.
But what has really caught people’s eyes, especially the first responders who need their own eyes on the ground, is our Spotter Drones. Here is a brief description of how these drones can help specific organizations.
Military: The STEMCOMM drone is a motion detector, tracking motion as far away as one mile. Once it locks in on what is moving, it will take high-definition video, even night vision video, of whatever is moving and report it back to base. This will inform soldiers where they need to be deployed, and what they should avoid.
First Responders: In any situation where there is fire, the STEMCOMM drone can get closer than humans and take aerial high-definition video surveillance to inform the first responders of their best strategy to mitigate the fire. This is also useful for navigating large scale accidents, explosions, and building collapses.
TV News Organizations: Helicopter aerial footage is risky and expensive. STEMCOMM drones are more agilejust the size of five laptop computers side-by-side–and Interapts Spotter drones can take the same broadcast-quality aerial footage without risking human life.
STEMCOMM stands for Strategic Tactical Emergency Management Communications. Our unique Wi-Fi system is a 50-foot mast that creates a serious, robust Wi-Fi capability in an open area. If youre trying to communicate in a location with many tall metal buildings, there can be difficulty, depending on the terrain, but we have also a solution to overcome that additional repeaters and routers.
STEMCOMM is a project that was initially housed out of a necessity for the military to have more secure, accurate and unfailing communications. At Interapt, we decided it was a product that could be used for numerous applications not only for the urgent demands of first responders, the military, and law enforcement, but also for universities looking to create a campus-wide network to ensure student safety, enabling campus security officials to pinpoint a student in trouble.
STEMCOMM can also be used for non-emergency situations, such as social networking at large gatherings like trade shows, sports competitions, music festivals, church services and the like.
